A bus driver accused of reckless driving that killed an 18-year-old woman has had his case postponed for at least two months due to a mechanical report.
Tia Cameron was hit by a city bus while walking on a sidewalk in the city’s central business district on March 8, 2024.
Ms Cameron, an administration worker, was pushed against a wall and died at the scene, while four bus passengers were treated for minor injuries.
Municipal bus driver Lindsay Francis Selby, 70, was charged months later with driving without due care, causing death.
Selby was not required to appear in person on Wednesday when his charges were laid in the Brisbane Magistrates Court.
Mrs Cameron’s father, Alastair, was in the public gallery.
Defense barrister Claire McGee told Magistrate Ross Mack she had not received a full forensic report containing ‘assessments relating to the mechanics of the bus’.
‘I do have part of a report. The substantive report I requested prior to the first listing has not yet been received,” Ms McGee said.

‘We have half the report. The appendix to the report is missing: the mechanical inspection.’
Prosecutor Bimal Raut said he could only ask for the report.
‘It should be able to clear the path. “I can only hope,” he said.
Ms McGee said another prosecutor told her it could take three weeks for the report to be filed, which she had requested several times.
“You should live my life. I ask for things all the time and I never get them, especially in this court,” Mr Mack said.
The magistrate said he would adjourn the case until March 26.
‘You can’t get anything done in three weeks. You have to give it to someone other than a lawyer who can read a mechanical report,” he said.
Mr Mack told Ms McGee she could take the case to court if the prosecutor did not provide her with the full report within three weeks.
Selby’s bail application was continued.
