A man who was tracked down by internet investigators after repeatedly torturing his girlfriend’s cat almost to death has been jailed for 2.5 years.

A court in Poland sparked outrage after Kacper B. was sentenced to less than the maximum five years after being found guilty of ‘extreme cruelty’ to animals.

Prior to his arrest, the 24-year-old had posted a series of sickening videos and images on social media, alongside descriptions of what he had done to the helpless animal named Leni.

In a photo of the cat hanging by its paws from a hairdryer cord, the sadist wrote: ‘The mother made me angry.

‘First I almost beat him to death, then I took a hairdryer and hung him from a cable by his front and back legs.

“He cries like he’s being skinned, then gets punched in the face and passes out in a second.”

In another post, the 24-year-old said he set the cat’s whiskers on fire.

The group said online: ‘We are once again counting on the power of the internet to identify the sadist who cruelly abuses his cat.’

In scenes reminiscent of the hit Netflix documentary Don’t F**k With Cats, the campaign saw both internet sleuths and celebrities joining the online manhunt.

Within hours he was tracked down and his details transferred to the police.

Kacper B. made his first court appearance in 2023, where he wore a headband and a pair of toy cat ears, saying he was “in a hurry because he had to feed his new girlfriend’s cats.”

Late last month he appeared again in court in the seaside resort of Gdynia in Poland, where prosecutor Katarzyna Topczewska said: ‘He wanted to show off his sadistic tendencies.

‘He shot the video himself. He bragged about it on the Internet. He described in detail what he had done to the cat.

‘Moreover, he is a person of high intelligence. What the suspect did was conscious. He enjoyed it. The films prove that he has sadistic tendencies.’

But after he was found guilty of animal cruelty and possession of child pornography, the judge decided to jail him for less than three years.

The outraged Topczewska said: ‘I demanded the maximum sentence of five years in prison.

‘During my closing speech, I rhetorically asked the court what else should be done to the animal and how brutal did you have to be in court to receive the maximum sentence?’

The man’s ex-girlfriend, Danuta W., was given a 10-month prison sentence, suspended for three years, for failing to stop the abuse.
