Three women who made sex allegations against controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother in Romania drop their complaint

Three women who made sex allegations in Romania against controversial influencer Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan have withdrawn their complaints, MailOnline can reveal.

One woman was removed from the case last month and another two asked to be ‘released’ as victims during a behind-closed hearing in the Romanian capital Bucharest on Friday morning.

It means that of the seven women who initially made allegations of rape and human trafficking, only three remain and the judges will now have to decide how to proceed with the case.

Self-confessed misogynist Tate, who is fond of his tirades against women, and his brother were arrested by Romanian police in late 2022 and held in custody for several months before being released.

Investigators allege the two men – who have dual British and US citizenship – formed a criminal gang with two women to sexually exploit other women and traffic people, but they all deny the allegations.

Romania’s anti-organized crime agency DIICOT alleged that the four defendants formed a criminal group in 2021 “to commit the crime of human trafficking” in Romania as well as in the US and Britain.

The agency alleged that seven female victims were deceived and transported to Romania, including some who were “misled” by “false claims about marriage and love.”

The alleged victims were taken to buildings on the outskirts of Bucharest, where prosecutors said they were sexually exploited and subjected to physical violence by the gang.

A source in Bucharest told MailOnline: ‘Two women said they no longer want to be seen as victims and another did the same last month.

“This means the case is now in jeopardy as almost half of the seven have withdrawn.

‘The judge does not have to listen to the legal objections of the lawyers and set a new date for a new preliminary chamber hearing.

“He could also theoretically dismiss the objections, close the preliminary hearing and set a trial date, or he could send the entire investigation back to DIICOT.”

Earlier this week, the two brothers were arrested in Bucharest at the request of Bedfordshire Police after obtaining a European Arrest Warrant to investigate claims of rape and human trafficking in Britain.

MailOnline has seen a copy of the order which states that three women are making a total of 11 allegations, ranging from three rapes to six sexual assaults and two human trafficking offences.

A judge ordered that they could be extradited back to Britain, but only after the conclusion of the Romanian case. They are now back at their villa in Bucharest and deny the new allegations.

Tate representatives declined to comment when contacted by MailOnline.
