Three people pulled from sinking ship in dramatic rescue off the coast of Sydney
Two men and a teenage boy have been rescued after their boat sank off the coast of Sydney during a shark fishing competition.
The trio were rescued from their sinking ship by Westpac’s rescue helicopter about 23 miles off the coast of Coledale, south of the Royal National Park.
Their boat, the Temptress, was almost completely submerged when they called triple zero and were brought to safety on Friday afternoon.

In images of the rescue operation, the teenager is first pulled from the water before rescuers return to the sinking ship to retrieve his father.
The third man was able to swim to a nearby boat, which brought him to shore.
The father and son were flown to the rescue base at La Parouse, in Sydney’s eastern suburbs, to be treated by paramedics.
Tony Waller, a spokesman for Westpac Helicopter, said rescuers were unaware the group was taking part in a shark fishing competition.
The boat, the Temptress, was almost completely submerged when the group called triple zero and was brought to safety on Friday afternoon.
“They were there for a shark fishing competition, which was kind of nice to know afterwards, before we pulled our rescue crew in,” he said. 9News.
Mr Waller praised the group for remaining calm.
“They did everything right,” he said.
“They stayed near the partially submerged boat and had their life jackets on.”
