2D side scroller The Eternal Life of Goldman was just announced as part of the THQ Nordic Showcase and for many it will undoubtedly be the standout game of the show.
From Weappy Studio, developers of This is the police and the sequel, The Eternal Life of Goldman debuted with a stunning trailer showcasing the game’s hand-drawn animations and gameplay.
The opening scene, in which an ape-like creature attempts to escape a burning forest (and ultimately fails), segues seamlessly into the gameplay, where we discover that the game’s protagonist is an elderly gentleman who is part Sonic the Hedgehog, part Scrooge McDuck, can run at breakneck speed and carries a cane that he can use in combat and platforming.
We see that the stick has multiple functions. For example, it can be used to defeat enemies such as a giant octopus and it can pull objects out of the ground that it can use as a platform.
While it certainly looks fun to play and features a whole new protagonist, The Eternal Life of Goldman is really impressive visually. The world itself looks pretty scary here, with a mix of spike-filled caves, trap-filled dungeons, and industrial cityscapes. The enemy design is also particularly macabre.
I’m also really impressed with the soundtrack so far, which combines a violin with strong percussive beats. I can’t wait to hear more in the full release.
However, on that note, there is no confirmed release date for it yet The Eternal Life of Goldman so far. You can wishlist it now for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Nintendo Switch, and PC.
