The mother demonstrated the method by first cutting her ripe avocado in half. She then pressed lightly on the skin side of one half behind the seed, which came out effortlessly.
'There's no way, close the front door. My whole life is a lie,” the woman said in a TikTok video.
The clip quickly racked up a whopping 10.8 million views and left many in the comments shocked, while others said they had been using the tried and tested method for years.
“This is going to reduce my use of plasters,” one viewer joked, while another said: “Definitely not? I love avocado, but waste so much'.
“Nice to know I could have saved myself a trip to the hospital and four stitches when I cut my hand open trying to get the seed out,” a third wrote.
'What a hack! I've always had trouble getting the pit out without making a mess or taking mounds of avocado flesh with it.'
Some pointed out that the trick usually only works on avocados that are perfectly ripe, while others were surprised that more people didn't know about it.
“I've been doing this method for years to keep it going… without realizing others didn't know about this hack,” one woman said.
“This is basic logic,” joked a second.
“I've always pushed it out like that because I don't trust myself to do it with a knife!” someone added.
