New England manager Thomas Tuchel has reportedly been told by the FA that he can work remotely for part of the week when he starts his duties in January.
According to a report, the former Chelsea and Bayern Munich boss will not be pressured to attend daily meetings at St George’s Park, despite committing to living in England ‘most of the time’ when he last month was appointed.
Tuchel’s arrangement would be a huge change for Gareth Southgate, who was based at the center in Burton three days a week during his eight years in charge of the men’s team.
In addition, Southgate and his assistant Steve Holland attended an average of five Premier League matches, according to The Sun. The outlet claims Tuchel will attend some meetings with junior coaches but has been told he can work remotely.
The 51-year-old would of course be no stranger to living on these shores, having done so for 18 months while in charge of the Blues. However, Tuchel now divides his time between the capital and Germany, where his two daughters live.

‘I love living in England and I’m looking forward to living in England again.’ The German said that last month. ‘I want to be close to the Premier League, I want to be close to the majority of the players.
‘But of course the schedule allows me to be close to my family and my children in Germany. I’ll be in England most of the time.’
Tuchel has signed an 18-month contract with the FA and will earn at least £7.5 million during that period.
Furthermore, it is claimed that Tuchel will receive an additional £3 million bonus if the England men end their trophy drought by winning the World Cup for the first time since 1966.
Tuchel’s reported salary of £5 million per year is said to be twice that of Southgate.
However, Southgate could apparently earn a bigger bonus, worth £4 million, had he been the man to score a World Cup victory.

Tuchel’s first game as England manager is expected to take place in March 2025.
Lee Carsley, who has been in charge on an interim basis since Southgate’s departure in the summer, will lead the team against Greece and Ireland in November.
