Chelsea owner Todd Boeh has reportedly ordered new signing Wesley Fofana to keep his medical treatment in New York, despite former manager Thomas Tuchel wanting the player to be integrated into the team soon.

Fofana joined from Leicester City to the Blues towards the end of the transfer window for a fee of £70 million and would replace the club’s Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen, both of whom left the club at the end of their contracts in the summer.

German news channel Sports Image has suggested that the new US owner “didn’t care” about the time the defender would lose traveling to the US and the five-hour time difference that could leave him jet-lagged compared to his teammates, even though he knew he what Tuchel’s wishes were for the player.

The result of this decision left Tuchel disgusted by the decision stating that he was “cooking” because he couldn’t get as much time with the player as he had planned before playing against him.

Even the defender was amazed at the location of the medical, as he says: ‘I thought we’d do it in London’.

The delay in Fofana’s integration into the squad was evident in his Champions League debut against Dinamo Zagreb, when the Blues were defeated 1-0 in the Champions League group stage.

The 21-year-old defender slipped out of position for Mislav Orsic’s 13th-minute goal that would turn out to be the winner and also the catalyst for Tuchel’s resignation as Chelsea boss.

Brighton manager Graham Potter was then quickly appointed as his successor, as the London club paid more than £20 million to take him off the south coast.

The report also states that the relationship between Boehly and Tuchel has broken down, over the German’s praise of former club director Marina Granovskaia.

The report reads: ‘Apparently Boehly didn’t like that someone contradicted him. Nor would he have liked Tuchel’s praise of Granovskaia’s work and the perfect internal processes with her.

‘That he would have liked to have seen her stay at the club despite’ [Roman] Abramovich’s departure.’
