The family of an Australian tourist who died in a tragic motorcycle accident in Bali will likely cremate his body.

Australian couple Thomas Cossins, 30, and Jasmine Sparreboom were on the holiday island to attend a friend’s wedding and went for a drive on Friday morning.

The couple left Seminyak at around 6:30am to travel to Canggu, where they met up with another rider before riding into the mountains near Gitgit.

Mr Cossins, an experienced motorcyclist, was riding a Kawasaki Ninja in full motorcycle gear around a bend when he lost control and crashed into a concrete pillar at high speed.

Denpasar Wangaya Hospital spokesman Ami Purnami said Mr Cossins’ body was taken to the mortuary late on Saturday night.

“We are still waiting for the family or the consulate to take the body,” they said.

The family is reportedly considering cremating Mr Cossins’ remains on Monday.

The update comes after gruesome footage emerged of the aftermath of Cossins’ crash, showing his fiancée screaming in anguish.

A bystander rushed to remove Mr Cossins from his bicycle and check that he was still breathing and had a pulse.

When they realised the Australian had passed, the man closed Mr Cossins’ eyes and placed his hands on his toso.

Mrs. Sparreboom, Mr. Cossins’ fiancée, approached as the man began to talk to the gathered crowd.

She screamed ‘no, no, no’ and grabbed her partner’s leg, crying.

Mrs Sparreboom paid tribute to Mr Cossins on Saturday, calling him ‘the love of my life, my soulmate, my fiancé, my best friend’.

She said the Queenslander who recently moved to Sydney with her had shown her “true love, true compassion, strength and loyalty”.

“You shine brighter than anyone I have ever met and I will forever be in your debt,” she wrote.

“You have shown me a love I never knew existed and I will love you for the rest of my life.”

The distraught Mrs. Sparreboom added: ‘I will never forget you and I will do everything in my power to honor your genius. Fly high with your Mumma.’

The Foreign Office confirmed it was providing consular assistance to Mr Cossins’ family to bring his body home.

There has been an outpouring of support online for Mrs Sparreboom’s heartfelt tribute to her fiancé.

The tragedy took place on Friday on the road from Denpasar to Singaraja, in Gitgit Village, Buleleng Regency

‘This brought me to tears. I could see how happy you were with Tom. Life can be so unfair. Such a shame,’ one person wrote.

“Your kindness knew no bounds and your sense of humor could brighten even the darkest days,” another friend posted about Mr. Cossins on Instagram.

“We will miss you dearly, but your spirit will live on in the hearts of those fortunate enough to know you.”

According to local media, which quoted police, Mr Cossins was riding his sports bike when he lost control while going downhill and around a bend, reportedly at high speed.

“The victim fell into a ditch on the left side of the road and was crushed by the motorcycle he was riding,” said Gede Darma Diatmika, spokesman for Buleleng police.

“The victim sustained serious head injuries and was declared dead at Parama Sidhi Singaraja Hospital,” he said.

The latest tragedy follows that of 30-year-old West Australian craftsman Shane Ramsey, who was visiting the Indonesian island for a wedding and riding a moped in Seminyak when he crashed into a roadside pole on Sunday 18 August.

He was not wearing a helmet and had no travel insurance.

Mr Ramsey was rushed to hospital, where he underwent brain surgery and fell into a coma.

His family paid $70,000 for him to undergo emergency neurological surgery and arranged a medical evacuation flight, which is believed to have cost around $150,000.

He was airlifted back to Perth, but his grief-stricken but loving family later turned off his life support when it became clear he would not recover from the horrific head injuries he sustained in the crash.
