This vegetarian quiz was an unexpected moment of joy this week

My friends keep talking about this personality quiz and now I know why. It’s called: “Which vegetable are you?” and that is possible put it online via GitHub. (I used my phone to take it, but it works just as well on a computer.)

All week my group chats were filled with people sending screenshots of their quiz results – I learned that I’m a carrot. But this isn’t your average personality quiz. This ode to producing contains a hidden secret and might be the cutest thing I show you this week.

Created by GitHub user Sophie006liu, the quiz features adorable digital art of anthropomorphic vegetarian characters fit for a children’s picture book. It starts with a fairly simple question about what snack you would bring to a hangout, but quickly evolves into a completely different experience.

Now I’m going to add a spoiler warning, which may seem strange, but I want to give readers a chance to experience the quiz without knowing the twist.

(Ed note: The rest of this post contains spoilers for the content of the section “Which Vegetable Are You?” quiz.)

If you’ve already taken the quiz, you now know about the many mysteries behind the vegetables and we can talk about how this isn’t just another little personality quiz. It’s a whole text adventure game nestled inside a quiz.

As you play, your answers will guide you and your vegetarian friends through different storylines. I’ve taken it a few times. One time I went to space and the other time I traveled to a kingdom of cheese. Even small decisions seem to have a significant impact on your path – I was pleasantly impressed!

“Which vegetable are you?” reminded me Frog fractionsbut not that extensive. Frog fractions took a similar turn after being disguised as a simple math game. The best part was that my friends and even my partner didn’t mention anything other than the personality quiz element, so I didn’t know anything about the adventure side of it. And there’s nothing like an unexpected moment of joy in a week.
