This stunning Lego Jaws set is now available for pre-order

Lego is no stranger to recreating classic pop culture moments, and this new Lego Jaws set has almost instantly become one of my favorites. The 1,497-piece homage captures the confrontation between a trio of unlikely heroes and one very angry shark. The set includes a full-scale reconstruction of the Orca boat, including the interior where the crew shares stories about body scars; Brody, Hooper, and Quint minifigures; and, of course, “Bruce” the shark — along with a display stand for all four main characters. The Lego Jaws set will retail for $149.99 and ships August 22.

75’s Jaws remains one of the greatest films of all time and one of the first breakthrough hits for director Steven Spielberg, whose legendary career too long to list here. It is well known that much of the mystique surrounding the shark has to do with off-screen interference if anything — without a functioning on-screen threat, director Steven Spielberg and crew instead spend a large portion of the film’s running time toying with the audience’s emotions by keeping the shark just out of sight. The “duh-nuh” theme song is now short for “instant anxiety.” If you need a quick refresher Jaws, Lego has released a cute “summary,” with some notable variations on the ending:

If nothing else, just enjoy this awesome Lego-style recreation of Brody comes face to face with its great white shark arch enemy. A picture is worth a thousand words, and in this case it is worth at least a few hundred stones.
