As Britain is hit by a last-minute heatwave, with temperatures soaring above 30 degrees Celsius in some places, pesky flies and wasps will no doubt be in abundance.
Now a TikToker has shared what he claims is a foolproof method to get rid of the pesky creatures, and all you need are three ingredients.
Dustin Hadley, known online as That40yearguy, posted the hack to his 3.3 million TikTok followers.
In the video titled ‘I can’t stand flying’ he shows his followers a recipe called the ‘Fly Getter’.

To make the homemade concoction, all you need is brown sugar, water and honey, a plastic cup and some tape
As he holds his notepad up to the camera, the recipe reads: “1 teaspoon honey, 1/3 brown sugar and 1 cup water.”
Ready to prepare the mixture, he said, “If it works, I’m going to keep this.”
First, Dustin grabs a water bottle, cuts the plastic a quarter and sets it aside.
He then puts the three ingredients in the cup and tells his followers to “mix it up.”
He then takes the removed cap, takes the cap off and places it upside down in the bottle.
He put some tape on the top of the bottle to hold it in place and said, “Now take it outside and test it outside.”
Dustin shared the successful result with his 3.3 million TikTok followers, and many are eager to try the hack for themselves
He placed it on a table outside and told his followers to wait a day to see the results.
When Dustin returned from work the next day, he was excited to see the results of his “homemade flycatcher.”
When he looked at the homemade trap, he said, “Oh wow, there’s a lot of them in there.”
Dustin held it up to the camera, sniffed the fly grave and told his followers that it didn’t smell like anything.
The now-viral video has been viewed nearly 23 million times and more than 11,000 people have responded in the comments section.
One user commented: ‘Remember the old saying “you attract more flies with honey”, I think it’s true.’
One extremely grateful TikToker commented, “You may have saved the world.”
Another user who jumped at the chance to try the trick wrote: ‘When I say I HATE flies… they make my skin crawl and we get enough of them in the house. I’m doing this now!!”
‘I’ve been doing this for years. I use a 2 liter bottle so it lasts longer,” someone wrote before the crowd.
Meanwhile, some users warned that the concoction could attract ants, with one person warning: ‘That’s good for the house, but don’t leave that outside. You will actually attract flies to your home. It happened to me. Believe me.’
