The Clamshell case contains an adjustable hinge for screen positioning and a charging gate for the keyboard itself. Yanko design Remarks The case does not seem to support the charging of the pass through for the phone and the keyboard lacks background lighting, which will limit its usability in low light settings. That said, this is still just a prototype, so things can change.
Indeed, in Another thread Mitchell has updated the design based on feedback and suggestions from his followers on social media, including changes that have been made to improve functionality and compatibility. In the updated design, the hinge is centered and has a dual-action mechanism, so that the housing can be completely flat thanks to an internal opening in the upper scale.
The arrow keys are again configured to a standard layout, where the Shift key has been moved to the right and enlarges for a more intuitive typing experience. An opening has been added around the front plate, making it easy to get out and adjust or exchange if necessary. In order to accommodate a wider range of devices, including Android phones, the bet on the inside is battled for better versatility. Moreover, the lip of the case has been moved to the top.
Mitchell has suggested that the Amberdeck could sell for less than $ 250, and although these early renders are just a preview, the case may appeal to writers, journalists and editors who want to change their phones into compact writing devices that can be everywhere used.
