This new robot vacuum cleaner and mop has eyes so sharp that it can even spot spilled liquids

Eureka has unveiled the J15 Max Ultra, the first robot vacuum and mop that can detect and respond to transparent liquids on your floor.
It features an updated version of Eureka’s ‘IntelliView AI’ technology, which made its debut in the J15 Pro Ultra. This feature meant that when faced with a wet spill, the bot would rotate, lift its roller brush to prevent that part from getting wet, and prioritize cleaning the mop to remove the spill. The only problem was that ambient light caused transparent liquids to confuse the robot’s vision sensors, but that’s not the case with the updated version of the technology.
IntelliView AI 2.0 uses an infrared vision system and an FHD vision sensor to create two types of views simultaneously in real time. It uses these to create a high-definition image of objects and their surface textures, which are not as affected by light variations. The bot then uses AI algorithms to identify subtle differences in surface texture reflections and textures, alerting it to liquid on the floor – even if that liquid is clear.

The Eureka J15 Max is one of a number of innovative new robot vacuum cleaners to be unveiled at CES 2025. Others include the Roborock Saros Z70 with its extendable mechanical pincer arm and the Dreame X50 Ultra Complete, which can lift itself onto stilts.
The Eureka J15 Max Ultra may not have any extra limbs, but it still looks quite impressive. Other innovations include a side brush and a mop, both of which can automatically extend beyond the sides of the bot when it senses it is close to the edge of a room. ‘ScrubExtend’ was on the J15 Pro Ultra, but ‘SweepExtend’ is new on the J15 Max.
Similar features appear a few times among the best robot vacuums on the market, and are always a welcome addition, as they mean the bot can provide a more complete clean, rather than leaving you with dusty or dirty edges.
Like many leading robot vacuum brands, Eureka has been working to improve the J15 Max Ultra’s ability to navigate high thresholds. It can apparently navigate standard thresholds up to 1.18 inches / 3 cm and can also ‘handle’ dual-layer thresholds up to 1.57 inches / 4 cm (it’s unclear to us how the approach differs for standard versus dual-layer thresholds). Bumps).
Finally, the J15 Pro Ultra boasts 22,000 Pa of suction power, which would have been considered absolutely ridiculous before CES 2025 (most top bots on the market today can handle about half of that). However, it has the same sucking power as Roborock’s latest flagships, so perhaps it will become the new standard for premium bots.
The Eureka J15 Max Ultra is expected to go on sale in June. Eureka says it will eventually be available “worldwide,” but first it’s coming to the United States, Germany, France, Italy and Spain.
