This Morning is thrown into chaos after Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary suffer series of technical mishaps live on air while chatting to Martin Lewis

Chaos erupted at This Morning on Thursday after a series of technical issues caused the programme to be temporarily suspended while it was broadcast live.

Presenters Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary invited Martin Lewis on board for a Q&A session, allowing viewers at home to ask him for financial advice on their financial problems.

The founder of Money Supermarket Expert watched the show from his home via a live feed to a TV screen in the studio, but from the start things went wrong.

It appeared that due to a technical issue, Martin was not properly centered on the screen before the segment started.

He quickly checked with the hosts and asked, I can’t quite see my monitor, so I’m hoping I’m in the middle of your screen. We had a little technical issue – should I be looking in the middle of the screen?

“Am I in the middle? We had technical problems earlier and I wasn’t in the middle.”

Dermot and Alison were quick to reassure him, saying, “You’re right in the middle of it. It’s perfect.”

But Dermot then admitted: ‘What we don’t have though is any communication about who you’re going to be talking to, so if you wanted to…’ before stopping talking.

While Martin waited curiously, Alison and Dermot both struggled with their tablets, searching for the callers’ messages.

Dermot suddenly said, “We’re going to talk to Eileen,” before quickly checking again, “Have we got Eileen?”

But Alison let him know: “Unfortunately not, no,” before attempting to help her co-host and take over the tablet.

She said, ‘Let’s see, the phone’s on… in the air… Tina!’ But Dermot explained, ‘No, that was yesterday, her sister’s not coming to her wedding.’

The presenting duo continued to play on the tablet for a while, but it yielded no results. Alison admitted: ‘We don’t have anything on our screen yet.’

Trying to fill the awkward silence and make some small talk, she turned to Martin and asked, “How are you, darlings? Are you okay, Martin? Tell us about your day.”

But Dermot interrupted her attempted distraction, determined to sort out the segment and ask the producers for help through his earpiece.

He said, ‘Wait a minute, guys, if the people who hear us can just tell us… Okay, my twin granddaughters live with me and my husband…’

As he listened to the next part, Martin took the opportunity to ridicule the chaos. He said, ‘Nobody notices!’

He added sarcastically, “It’s okay, the advantage is that this show is not live, we can edit it afterwards.”
