An upcoming Microsoft Teams update could spice up your calls at work by giving you a new way to message your office friends (or enemies).
The video conferencing service adds a feature that allows users to send in-meeting notifications to a specific person while they’re on a call, allowing you to respond or respond in a private manner.
The new ‘targeted notifications during the meeting’ tool uses a bot to ensure that your message remains (relatively) secret and is only delivered to the expected recipient.

In his entry on the official Microsoft 365 roadmap (opens in new tab)the company doesn’t go into detail about how the feature will work, but it seems likely that it will work as a separate option during a meeting or on a call, allowing a user to communicate directly with a single other participant.
The feature is still listed as “in development”, but has a planned general availability date of February 2023, meaning users won’t have to wait too long to experience it.
Upon release, Microsoft says the feature will be available to Teams users on both desktop and mobile platforms, including Windows, Mac, Android, and iOS.
The release is the latest in a series of Microsoft Teams updates as the company looks to make its platform more personal and engaging for users everywhere.
It recently announced a solution that allows users to track down entire chat conversation threads after clicking on the results of a search message. desired message, rather than just a single line of text.
But on the other side of the latest addition, the platform has also launched a feature that allows chat participants to mention everyone in a group at once.
Similar to how users can currently “@mention” a specific person in a chat, Microsoft Teams users can now have the option to @mention “Everyone”. Doing so will send a notification to all chat participants, meaning everyone gets a push, but also leads to a potentially deafening cacophony of pings and alerts on devices throughout your office.
