This McDonald’s with $8.99 lobster rolls has been named the most ‘posh’ location IN THE WORLD

Maine is known for many things; beautiful lighthouses, scenic coastline views, savory lobster – and because it’s home to the ‘poshest’ McDonald’s store in the world.

Located near outlet stores in Freeport, Maine, the restaurant may not have the iconic golden arches out front, but inside, fast food fanatics can find the classic Maccas menu.

The Victorian-style mansion built by prominent merchant William Gore in the 1850s, known as Gore House, was converted into a McDonald’s in January 1984.

In the years since, it has become known as a popular attraction during the tourist season.

The decision to transform the Gore House left the people of Maine divided at first, but the “never done before” restaurant ultimately worked out for the state and the fast food chain.

Since being transformed into a McDonald’s, the Gore House has restored its interior features by adding mahogany furniture and wall-to-wall carpeting.

The restaurant has also added original artwork created by Maine artists.

Other features include a drive-thru, installed in 2000, as well as vintage-style candle holders and a fireplace.

Hardly anything has changed on the outside, but minor improvements have been made over the years improve the service life off the building.

Although it is referred to the ‘posh’ McDonald’s restaurant, it is also known as McDonald’s mansion and The McMansion, and was ranked as the number one iconic restaurant by the company website in 2019.

The McDonald’s location is one of the few restaurants that serves lobster rolls in the summer, which is a popular order among New Englanders.

The sandwich first debuted as a limited-time offering nationwide in 1993 and returned to New England in 2005.

Since 2015, the McLobster sandwich is now available in all McDonald’s restaurants in New England during the summer.
