This is how you choose the Yoshi color in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door
One of your party members is inside Paper Mario: The Millennial Door is a Yoshi boy, a feisty little man with polka dot pants and funky hair. Your Yoshi can actually be one of many colors, and the color depends on specific timing.
If you want a specific one Yoshi color, you should plan accordingly. Below we explain how the Yoshi color timers work and how you get a specific color of Yoshi in them Paper Mario: The Millennial Door.
How Yoshi color works in Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
It depends on which color Yoshi you get how long it spends in the egg after it is obtained.
Once you get the egg from the hot dog stand in front of the Glitz Pit, an invisible timer will start. Depending on how long it takes for the egg to hatch, which happens after the first Iron Adonis Twins battle, the Yoshi inside will be a different color. The timer stops after Jolene gives you the prize money and leaves.
The colors and their hatch times are as follows:
- Vegetable: 0-6 minutes
- Red: 6-9 minutes
- Blue: 9-12 minutes
- Orange: 12-15 minutes
- Pink: 15-18 minutes
- Black: 18-19 minutes
- White: 19-20 minutes
After 20 minutes, the timer will run again and cycle through the same colors in the same order.
The Yoshi color has no effect on stats or anything other than appearance.
How to get exactly the Yoshi color you want in Paper Mario: Thousand Year Door
To try to get a specific color, you need to do the following:
- Take the egg and play the game normally.
- Before you fight the Iron Adonis Twins, save your game.
- Play through the battle (immediately run away) and continue the game as normal.
- See what color Yoshi you get, but do not save if you didn’t get the color you wanted.
- Restart the game and wait as long as you need to get the color you want, based on the color you initially had. For example, if you got a green Yoshi the first time, but you want a pink Yoshi, wait about 10 minutes before starting the match.
Of course, it’s a matter of trial and error here and there, as the time frames are quite long for the first few colors in the cycle, so you’ll probably have to try several times.
Once you have the Yoshi you want, make sure you save your game.
