The iPhone 15 leaks and rumors show no signs of stopping, and the latest unofficial images to emerge are renders showing just how thin the bezels of the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are likely to be.
These views come true yeux1122 on the South Korean site Naver (via AppleInsider), showing how the bezels of this year’s Pro iPhones match the bezels of last year’s Pro iPhones.
The images are based on the leaks around the handsets we’ve had so far: last week, respected tipster Mark Gurman said the bezels on the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max would be reduced to 1.5mm from 2 .2 mm – a significant drop in relative terms.
However, these rumors have been circulating all year and it is clear that Apple wants to move to a completely borderless iPhone as soon as possible. We’ve also seen images of the glass panels Apple uses to make the more expensive iPhone 15 models, showing just how thin the bezels can eventually get.
Even more renders
It seems clear that this design tweak will be exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max – so the standard iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus will have to make do with the existing bezel dimensions of this year’s models.
While most of us would agree that smaller bezels make for a more aesthetically pleasing phone, it remains to be seen whether the smaller bezels on these iPhones – possibly the slimmest bezels ever – come with an associated price increase.
Interestingly enough, the team of 9to5Mac also put together some renders showing the front of the iPhone, based on past rumors from Mark Gurman and others – so you have a choice of unofficial photos to reference.
It looks like we’ll have to wait for a completely bezel-less iPhone: Apple has approached its suppliers for bezel-less iPhone OLED panels, but they won’t be ready before September 2023 and the iPhone 15.
