‘This is a MESS’: Gary Neville fumes as Darwin Nunez punishes Manchester United’s ‘dreadful’ defense in the build-up to Liverpool’s second goal as Erik ten Hag’s side fall apart at Anfield

Gary Neville branded Manchester United’s defense a ‘disaster’ after Liverpool striker Darwin Núñez punished Erik ten Hag’s defenders by scoring immediately after the second half began.

Núñez finished off a Liverpool attack by directing Harvey Elliott’s cross past United goalkeeper David de Gea.

United failed to learn their mistakes from a poor first half that saw Cody Gakpo open the scoring as Liverpool’s Uruguayan forward punished the visitors.

Neville, commenting on Sky Sports, raged as his old side found themselves undone once more.

“Liverpool’s goal timing, absolutely fantastic for them, I just talked about United improving in the second half, this is a disaster, everyone should do better.” They can’t erase their lines. From a defensive point of view those two goals together have conceded, appalling defensively,” Neville said.
