There are mini PCs for virtually every taste and purpose, ranging from basic models to compact powerhouses that can support up to four screens.
However, we think that the SOON Mini from the Chinese manufacturer SOONNOOZ stands out for its unusual design and original features that set it apart from its rivals.
The SOON Mini has a rounded chassis and is available in black, gray or white and features a small, physical volume control lever on the top left and a power button on the right. There are also two buttons on the sides for attaching a shoulder strap so you can carry it like a handbag.
Detachable Bluetooth speaker
Equipped with Intel Iris Xe graphics and an 11th generation Intel Core i5 processor, the SOON Mini is a fairly powerful device. It features 8GB of DDR4 RAM and an NVMe 512GB SSD and comes with Windows 11 Home pre-installed.
The ports on the back of the device include two USB 3.1 Type-C ports (one with DisplayPort 1.4 and Power Delivery) and one HDMI 2.0 port, allowing for 4K display on two screens. There are also two USB 3.0 Type-A ports, Gigabit Ethernet and a 3.5mm combo audio jack.
For wireless connectivity, the SOON Mini offers Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.2.
The mini PC has some interesting features. Firstly, it contains an integrated 6000 mAh Li-ion battery, allowing a certain degree of autonomy on the go. Charging for three hours provides a battery life of up to eight hours.
Secondly, the front panel of the device can be detached to function as a standalone Bluetooth speaker. Users can play music directly from the mini PC or stream it from any Bluetooth device.
The volume can be adjusted independently and the speaker charges automatically when connected to the body.
The SOON Mini costs $599 and can be purchased at Amazon.
