- Plugable’s UD-7400PD can handle five 4K monitors and up to 100 million pixels
- The docking station has 11 ports, including a 2.5 Gigabit port
- Can deliver up to 140W, enough to power a MacBook Pro
Plugable chose CES 2025 to unveil the launch of its latest docking station with some powerful capabilities – and it could be a gamechanger.
The pluggable USB-C docking station with 5 screens (UD-7400PD) can support, you guessed it, up to five monitors.
The company itself has touted a range of variations here, including using up to three 8K monitors alongside another two 4K screens. Alternatively, users can opt for a single 8K and four 4K monitors or simply a full house of 4K devices – either way, it makes for an attractive setup for both your IT professional and the casual user and it’s a powerful package capable of increasing speed up to 100 million pixels.
What you need to know about the new Pluggable docking station
But there’s more to the docking station than just its visual appeal: Plugable’s new docking station offers up to 140W of power through a USB-C port, making it a highly capable device for users.
In terms of different displays, it features two HDMI ports in addition to three DisplayLink USB-C ports, meaning users can use up to four displays at an impressive 120Hz.
The rear-mounted HDMI 2.1 port can also display a single 8K display at up to 30Hz.
Elsewhere, the UD-7400PD also features a DockTag On Screen Display (OSD), allowing users to quickly check dock status or asset details, as well as access a QR code for source installation instructions.
This feature makes it an easy-to-use device for IT professionals and hot-desking staff and managed IT environments, the company says.
“Designed with reliability at its core, this USB-C and DisplayLink docking station is built to meet the deployment requirements of IT departments and the ease of use needed for home offices,” according to Pluggable’s promotional materials.
Other key features include:
- A front-facing 10Gpbs USC-C port for charging accessories up to 30W
- Two forward-facing 10Gbps USC-A ports
- 2.5 Gbps Ethernet port
- A headphone jack
One of the docking station’s biggest appeals is its compatibility with a range of operating systems and devices.
The UD-7400PD works with Windows 10 or higher, or macOS 11 and higher. This means that users working with Mac devices ranging from the M1 to the M4 can connect displays.
