At CES 2023, Cooler Master unveiled a beautiful – and incredibly expensive – gaming PC that in the shape of a shark. But if you prefer to just buy the housing without all the components and innards, the manufacturer is happy to accommodate you.
The original Shark But while the case itself costs $2,700 less than the full PC, it’s currently only available in Japan from the Yodobashi Akiba store for an eye-watering 658,000 yen, or about $4,300.
While this is certainly an expensive PC or even case to own, it is certainly eye-catching and makes a beautiful focal point in the living room. It would also be a rare centerpiece, as most gamers would rightfully lose out on purchasing one for themselves. And if you just want the case, you’ll still have to import it from Japan as there’s no talk of a global release yet.
Cooler Master is the kind of beautiful but impractical
This isn’t Cooler Master’s only foray into the crazy and unique world of PC cases. It was unveiled in 2023 Sneakera gaming PC in the shape of a sneaker. It can accommodate components such as ITX form factor motherboards, SFX PSUs, 3-slot GPUs and up to 64 GB of RAM, while also being equipped with liquid cooling.
During the day Computerex 2024Cooler Master had an interesting gaming PC with an RGB turntable that had an action figure on it – a figure of X-Men’s Wolverine to be precise. Of course, this screen is a bit impractical, as the turntable replaces one of the bottom air intake fans, meaning the PC will run a little warmer. But the price of beauty is always a bit high, right?
At the very least, these designs are extremely entertaining and certainly buck the trend of the boring and dreaded ‘gamer aesthetic’ which many of the best gaming PCs on the market suffer from. I understand the need for functionality, as the performance demands of high-end gaming can be tough, but it would be nice to at least get more variety in the case color.
Either way, I’m looking forward to seeing what cool and impractical designs Cooler Master introduces next at CES 2025 and beyond. Or maybe we’ll even see something like the Motion 1 again, which was a chair uses haptic technology to swing you around while you play. Kind of like those chairs you see in 4D cinemas, but for some reason in your living room.
