Lyon have had a bad start to the season, taking just one point from their last five games, so it decided to make the change.

Former Arsenal striker Henry, who played alongside Blanc when France won the 1998 World Cup, has supported his former team-mate, although he expects it to be an uphill task, including what to do with veteran centre-back Jerome Boateng.

“It’s up to him to show us. He will return to the French Championship, he has always been in teams that have played,” Henry said foot merchandise.

Henry has wondered what Blanc will do with veteran defender Jerome Boateng at Lyon

“It’s up to him to see what he’s going to do, there are a lot of questions. He will not coach Les Ulis, he will have a lot of work, but I think the biggest question is what he will do with Boateng.

“We’ll see, but at least he showed that his teams can play football.”

A world and European champion as a player with France, Blanc won the Ligue 1 title in each of his three seasons as PSG coach from 2013 to 2016. He also led Bordeaux to the French league title in 2009.

Blanc inherits a team that is ninth with 14 points from 10 games. His first game in the lead is next Sunday against Rennes.
