Thief gets MMA-style beatdown after robbing jewelry store
A self-styled crime fighter has thwarted a jewelry store thief in Brazil with moves that would make an MMA fighter proud.
Surveillance footage showed the 27-year-old perpetrator walking into a jewelry store in the city of Caraguatatuba on Saturday and handing a backpack to a female clerk.
The woman appeared to put money in the bag before disappearing from the camera’s view.
The suspect was then seen browsing the store’s displays and stuffing some of the expensive bling into the backpack.
Moments later, a street surveillance camera captured the thief’s attempted escape.
A Good Samaritan was seen running from the sidewalk across the street and positioning himself to stop the suspect.
The vigilante then lifted the fleeing robber off the ground and violently knocked him to the ground.
The bandit managed to hold on to his bag before the man wrestled him away and gave him an arm lock like a UFC fighter.

The vigilante apparently noticed that the witness was on the side of the law and let him take the backpack containing the stolen goods.
A security unit arrived on the scene and found a machete, jewelry worth $1,000, two cellphones, a pair of slippers and a women’s T-shirt.
The suspect was taken to a local urgent care center where he received medical attention.

A social media user suggested that the police force train its officers in mixed martial arts.
