A man left non-verbal by a stroke was killed after he was mauled by two vicious pit bulls after accidentally going to the wrong house.

Antonio Shaw, 63, went to the home on North 62nd Street West Philadelphia on Oct. 4.

According to police, two of the five pit bulls that were in the home attacked him.

'These dogs were very vicious and hungry. These dogs ate him like a piece of steak,” said Sharese Jackson, Shaw’s sister.

Shaw suffered a series of strokes that left him unable to speak, so he was unable to call for help.

A neighbor eventually saw the attack and called 911.

Police quickly arrived on the scene and fatally shot one of the two dogs, injuring the other.

The second dog was later euthanized by animal control.

Shaw was taken to hospital by emergency workers because his previous health problems worsened the effects of the attack.

After a hospital stay that included 15 operations, Shaw died on December 4, according to his sister.

“He had to have his leg amputated because of the dog bites and the infections in his body as a result of the dog bites,” Michelle Shaw, another of Antonio's 12 siblings, told ABC6.

Jackson added, “Things just weren't going well for him. He persisted, but it only got worse.'

A father of three, Shaw was loved by those closest to him.

“My brother Antonio was a very wonderful person, and he loves his children and he loves his family,” Jackson said.

“I want Antonio to know that we love him, and that he will never be forgotten, and that he was a wonderful person,” Shaw added.

'He was very excellent. Everyone loved him and everyone will miss him.”

Authorities say no charges have been filed against the home's owners at this time.

Shaw's family is trying to raise about $3,000 Gofundme to pay for the funeral.

“We have money, but not enough to cover his time in service, so I'm asking if you can help this family so we can get a good home for my brother,” Jackson wrote.
