Soccer Aid coach Harry Redknapp has revealed his 7pm curfew backfired as he attempted to contain the stars taking part in Sunday night’s charity match.

The 76-year-old England coach joked that he had tried to ‘lock the stars in their rooms’ in the week leading up to match day but it didn’t work.

Celebrities such as Robbie Keane, Danny Dyer, Tommy Fury, Liam Payne and Kem Cetinay will take the field for the event.

The match will see celebrities from the England team compete against the rest of the world XI stars, with the event raising money for UNICEF.

He said that Robbie Keane was the first to go to the bar so he could sing on the karaoke machine all night.

World XI star and Love Island winner Kem added: ‘Robbie loves to sing. He did about 100 songs. You can’t get the mic off him.’

Meanwhile, 45-year-old Danny Dyer admitted he was hungover for one training session after celebrating West Ham’s win in the Europa Conference League this week.

This is evident from an interview with OK! Magazine on Saturday, Tommy Fury shared that he would be dedicating the competition to his and Molly-Mae Hague’s daughter, Bambi.

He told the publication, “Bambi will be live and present at the game on Sunday.

“I’m going to give her a shout-out whether we win or lose, always. I dedicate my performance to her, so you can be sure it will be a great performance.’

Tommy also said of his daughter, “I miss her, when I left home it was a bit hectic, I was rushing to do a million things, so I’m looking forward to seeing her at the game.”

Soccer Aid will have an all-female refereeing team for the first time with Abigail Byrne, the top official, who will take charge of Sunday’s game at Old Trafford.

Byrne is one of four Women’s Super League officials involved in the match.

Georgia Ball and Nicoleta Bria will be Byrne’s assistants, while Jane Sims will have the fourth official duty.

There will be no VAR and play will go straight to penalties if the result is a draw.

Byrne was promoted to the elite level of refereeing in 2015 and has been active in the WSL since 2016. She also took charge of the Women’s FA Cup Final in 2019.

Former Lionesses and Euro 2022 winner Jill Scott captains the England team, while recently retired Izzy Christiansen is also one of the ex-pros involved.

Chelsea boss Emma Hayes will lead alongside Harry Redknapp.

As well as former footballers, there are a number of celebrities involved, with the England team including Liam Payne, while the Rest of the World team includes former Manchester United stars Nani and Patrice Evra.
