These Wisconsin swing state Democrats were Biden fans. Now they have Kamala after his faltering exit… they reveal how the ‘energy’ has shifted

For Democrats who feared total defeat this fall as Trump rested on his laurels and President Biden struggled, the change in the slate of candidates and the party quickly rallying behind Vice President Kamala Harris is a welcome change.

Democrats breathed a sigh of relief at Harris’ first campaign rally as the presumptive presidential candidate in Wisconsin on Tuesday, saying they are confident the vice president can defeat Donald Trump in November.

Several voters told DailyMail.com that despite their deep respect for Biden, they were finally feeling excited and hopeful this campaign period, now that Harris is at the top of the list.

“Honestly, this is so exciting. I’m honored to be here,” cheered Maria Olig of Milwaukee, who showed up for Harris’ rally. “We need change. Kamala is going to bring it.”

She said she came to the event after she was finally able to wake up in the morning and be optimistic.

The vice president traveled to Milwaukee just hours after securing the necessary Democratic delegates to secure the nomination at the Democratic National Convention on Tuesday, less than 48 hours after President Biden withdrew.

“I have been filled with so much hope since this announcement was made,” said Rosanda Arndt of Waukesha, WI. The Harris rally was the first political event she had ever attended.

“I’ve had undisturbed sleep the last few nights,” she said.

“It’s such a historic event, and I really didn’t want to miss it,” said Courtney Ryan of Madison, WI. She said she can’t wait to see Harris carry the torch “across the finish line.”

If Harris is elected, she will be the first woman and the first woman of color to be elected president.

She is already the first woman of color to be the presumptive presidential nominee of a major political party, and that significance was not lost on voters in attendance.

For some, attending Harris’ first campaign rally in Milwaukee was a family affair, with parents bringing their young daughters to see who they think could become the first female president of Black and Asian descent.

Several voters and speakers at the rally were excited about the possibility that Harris would break the highest glass ceiling as the first female president of the United States.

Voters also had confidence that Harris could beat Trump, despite trailing him in the polls with just over 100 days left in the race.

“I think she’s going to beat him easily because she’s young and smart,” said Milwaukee’s Mitch Hancock.

Harris took on Trump at her rally, accusing the ex-president of being a fraud, a cheat and a predator. She praised her time as a prosecutor and criticized him as a convicted felon.

It was an attack Democrats had long been waiting for from their presidential candidate.

Karen Siegel said she had “absolute confidence” Harris could beat Trump and that she couldn’t wait for Harris to “persecute” Trump during the campaign.

A new Reuters/Ipsos poll released Tuesday showed Harris ahead of Trump at 44 percent, compared to 42 percent.

The election came after Biden withdrew from the race on Sunday, following the Republican Party convention last week in Milwaukee.

Republicans have tried their own line of attack on Harris now that she is leading the Democratic ticket, criticizing her for her role in tackling the border in the Biden administration.

Another line accuses her of covering up Biden’s ailing health. Some GOP lawmakers have called for Biden to resign after he leaves the race, claiming he is unfit to serve the rest of his term.

Democratic voters rejected the criticism, praising Biden’s decision to withdraw from the race but rejecting his departure before the end of his term.

“He needs to finish his term,” Dia Amerson of Milwaukee said emphatically. She said she supported Biden until he left the race. She believes he should not only finish his term but also help Harris with the campaign.

“If someone who has been impeached twice hasn’t resigned, I don’t think Biden should resign,” Neil Fulton said of Trump, laughing.
