‘These English pundits are clueless!’ Micah Richards mocked as he gets his Champions League predictions totally WRONG after Man City suffer penalty heartbreak against Real Madrid and Arsenal crash out against Bayer Munich

Predicting the outcome of the Champions League quarter-finals can be a fool’s errand, as Michael Richards found out the hard way.

Footage of the CBS Sports pundit making his semifinal picks last week resurfaced on X, the platform formerly known as Twitter, after the quarterfinals concluded Wednesday night.

Richards predicted Arsenal would progress against Bayern Munich to set up an all-English final against Manchester City, who he backed to eliminate Real Madrid.

The second semi-final, meanwhile, would be an all-Spanish affair, with Atletico Madrid gaining the upper hand over Borussia Dortmund over two legs and Barcelona beating Paris Saint-Germain.

Richards then expected City and Atletico Madrid to meet in the final, with his former club winning the Champions League for the second consecutive season.

It turned out that Richards got every prediction wrong and it didn’t take long for viewers to enjoy his misery.

“These English experts have no idea,” wrote the user who shared the images of Richards’ predictions on X.

Several others echoed this sentiment: “English experts are the most biased people on earth, they aren’t even ashamed to show it,” one person wrote.

Another added: ‘Behold the football knowledge of English experts!!! What a shame’, while a third commented: ‘They’re thinking of UCL [the Champions League] and P.L [Premier League] are the same’.

Another, meanwhile, suggested Richards’ football IQ was ‘non-existent’.

City’s quest for a second successive Treble ended at the Etihad on Wednesday evening when they lost 4-3 to Madrid on penalties.

After last week’s exciting 3-3 at the Santiago Bernabeu, the visitors took an early lead when Rodrygo tapped home after twelve minutes.

Real’s goal seemed to galvanize Pep Guardiola’s men, who dominated the game and eventually leveled the score through Kevin De Bruyne’s goal in the 76th minute.

But despite their superiority, City could not find a way past Real and found themselves on the losing side after Bernardo Silva and Mateo Kovacic missed from the spot.

City’s defeat means the Premier League will not be represented in the semi-finals for the second time in six seasons after Arsenal were defeated by Bayern Munich.

After drawing 2-2 at home to the Emirates last week, the Gunners lost 1-0 at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday evening thanks to a second-half goal from Joshua Kimmich.

And the Bavarians could face Bundesliga rivals Dortmund in the final at Wembley after beating Atletico Madrid 5-4.

Dortmund – who incidentally played Bayern in the final at Wembley when they last hosted the showpiece in 2013 – lost 2-1 in Madrid last week before winning 4-2 at home on Tuesday evening.

Julian Brandt and Ian Maatsen gave Edin Terzic’s men two goals two in five minutes in the first half, before a Mats Hummels own goal and a smart finish from Angel Correa put Atletico ahead midway through the second half.

Their relief was short-lived, however, as Niclas Fullkrug and Marcel Sabitzer scored twice in three minutes to send Dortmund through.

Black and Yellow will face PSG in the semi-finals, after the Ligue 1 champions staged a comeback of their own against Barcelona.

The Catalans won the first leg in Paris 3-2 and extended their overall lead when Raphinha headed home Lamine Yamal’s cross after 12 minutes.

But the pendulum of momentum swung decisively the other way when Ronald Araujo was sent off for a foul on Bradley Barcola, leaving Barcelona to play with ten men for an hour.

PSG restored parity just before half-time thanks to a smart finish from Ousmane DembĂ©lĂ©, and they were level ten minutes into the second half when Vitinha’s shot flew through a crowd of players from the edge of the penalty area and past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen .

Kylian Mbappe then came into action, converting a penalty which Dembele won after being brought down in the penalty area by a reckless challenge from Joao Cancelo, before scoring a late fourth for PSG.
