The whole point of an ad is to grab the viewer’s attention and make him or her aware of your product.
And the graphic designers behind these ads have done just that, creating eye-catching creations that will make you think – and maybe even laugh.
Photos of the smart billboards, taken by social media users from around the world, were shown in a gallery by Bored Panda.
One anti-litter ad from Canada, showed pieces of discarded packaging. The designer had taken letters from different pieces of rubbish and put them together, so she spelled out insults like ‘lowlife’ and ‘lazy’ in an attempt to tackle litter.
Another hilarious photo showed a sign in a US store advertising a package deal for both condoms and diapers, suggesting new parents might not want a second child.
The Canadian city of Toronto commissioned this ad, which merged several pieces of waste so that the text on the discarded packaging contained insults
Another clever ad, which brilliantly engaged its target audience, was a billboard designed to encourage people to use public transport in Canada.
Placed so that it could be noticed by motorists stuck in traffic, it read: ‘Take the car, they said. It will go faster, they said. Take the TTC next time.”
Meanwhile, a bus advertising the Copenhagen Zoo had a very clever optical illusion of a snake on it, making it appear as if the animal had wrapped its body around the vehicle.
A KFC billboard in Britain featured photos of competitors trying to intimidate the fast-food brand, followed by “we’re flattered.”
