These Beautiful Tolkien-Illustrated Lord of the Rings Books Are Half Off for Prime Day

Of the many different editions of The Lord of the Rings books we’ve seen weren’t as beautiful or felt as complete as The Lord of the Rings: Special Editionwhich is on sale ahead of Prime Day for around $109, 56% off the list price. This one-volume hardcover collection features the full text, printed in both red and black lettering, and includes 30 color illustrations, maps, and sketches drawn by Tolkien himself — all packaged to “reflect the classic look of the first edition.”

If you’re looking to fill in some gaps, there’s also the Standard Edition The Lord of the Rings Illustrated for just under $40 (also 56% off), which has the same aesthetic and a similar price as The Hobbit illustrated by Tolkien (42% discount) and The Silmarillion Illustrated (47% off), which tells the history of Middle-earth. (Note to Tolkien beginners: learn from this writer’s mistake and do the do not start of The Silmarillion (if your first Tolkien book — it may be tempting to read the world chronologically, but trust that you’ll find it much more enjoyable if you delve into the other stories first.)
