These Are the Words Viewers Used to Describe How Joe Biden Made Them Feel During the Presidential Debate (and They Make Him Sound More Like a Sick Relative Than a Leader of the Free World)

These are not the feelings you want to evoke in voters when you are commander in chief of the greatest superpower and you are running for a second term: worried, sad, sorrowful.

But those are the statements of independent voters who watched Thursday night’s presidential debate, in which Joe Biden, 81, delivered a disastrous performance, full of verbal blunders, silences and nonsensical statements.

His erratic performance has thrown Democrats into disarray, with a range of leading figures now wondering whether a new candidate can be installed before the November election.

And an exclusive poll for DailyMail.com shows how much Biden has bombed in the eyes of independents, the group most likely to decide who lives in the White House for the next four years.

About 805 people were asked to describe in a few words how listening to Biden made them feel.

JL Partners asked 805 independent voters for their opinions on Thursday’s debates. The results will make uncomfortable viewing for supporters of President Joe Biden

Their words are more reminiscent of a concerned relative talking about a declining grandparent than the most powerful person in the world.

Expressions of concern dominated the results. Frustrated, embarrassed, uncomfortable, disappointed were all words that also appeared.

But the vast majority of viewers were concerned about the president and the future of the country.

In contrast, “hopeful” was the term that appeared most often in former President Donald Trump’s word cloud.

However, his bluffing style, which initially saw him refuse to say whether he would accept the November election results and spread lies, insults and exaggerations, was highly polarizing.

After “hopeful,” the next most popular words were “angry” and “annoyed.”

According to Joe Alder, senior research associate at JL Partners, it is hard to imagine a worse outcome for Biden.

“Looking at the emotions independent people felt listening to Joe Biden, the picture is relentlessly negative: ‘bored,’ ‘worried,’ ‘sad,’ ‘worried,’ ‘confused,’ ‘scared,'” he said.

“Understanding voters’ emotional responses is critical to understanding their behavior. Independents listening to Joe Biden last night felt bored, scared or sad.

“That’s not a promising situation for Democrats.”

Biden, the oldest president in history, got off to a bad start, struggling to clear his throat and be heard.

Things quickly got worse when he struggled to articulate his vision of an America where everyone pays their fair share in taxes to support the poorest in society. But his words went no further.

He looked like he was 81 years old.

Trump, 78, was able to land his punches as his Democratic opponent struggled to refute his outlandish claims.

“I really don’t know what he said at the end of that sentence,” he said after Biden delivered a verbiage about the border.

“I don’t think he knows what he said either.”

Independent viewers agreed. When asked to rate Biden in one word, the most popular words were old, slow, lost and confused.

Trump’s words were: Confident, arrogant, strong and a liar.

There was a crumb of comfort for Team Biden in that verdict, Alder said.

“While some of those words have negative connotations, it’s hard to imagine the Trump team being overly concerned because they’re such a stark contrast to Joe Biden,” he said.

“The word Trump should probably worry about is ‘liar.’

“Joe Biden repeatedly hammered home the claim that Trump was telling lies, and it appears this has gotten through to independent voters.”

It wasn’t enough to win the debate. The DailyMail.com poll found that 68 percent of independents thought Trump came out on top.

And 62 percent said Biden should be removed from the Democratic ticket altogether.
