Knowing the state of the job market is critical to finding your next job – a new report aims to take the guesswork out of revealing the most in-demand jobs worldwide.
Experts gathered internet data and Google searches to compile a list of the top 10 most wanted features, with software quality assurance analyst at the top.
A software quality assurance analyst, someone who tests software to make sure it is free of bugs, saw a 155 percent increase in searchers from 2021 to 2022.
The second most sought after was the solar consultant, who provided customers with information about solar energy equipment, and customer service.
However, the report was prepared before the success of AI, which is about to take over many functions, and the recent tech layoffs that saw thousands of people lose their jobs.
Experts gathered internet data and Google searches to compile a list of the top 10 most wanted features, with software quality assurance analyst at the top.
The report comes from Lensaa job search engine, which dug into their internal data.
Knowing the jobs that are in high demand typically helps people find better pay, benefits, and more stability in their next position.
They then calculated the percentage increase in the number of vacancies, comparing the data from 2021 and 2022 and ranking the top 10.
A software quality assurance (QA) analyst oversees the development of computer software and ensures that no product defects enter the market.
And it may come as no surprise that it has grown in popularity as companies turn to software to run their businesses.
The base salary for Software Quality Assurance Analyst I ranges from $58,757 to $71,824, with an average base of $64,892, according to Salary.com.
“With more and more people concerned about the impact of their daily lives on the environment, the job market in the renewable energy sector has grown rapidly in recent years,” Lensa shared in a statement.
“So it’s no surprise that solar consultants, who provide sales and support for solar energy systems, take second place with a 106 percent increase in job searches between 2021 and 2022.”
Solar consultants are paid primarily through sales commissions, but have an average salary of $49,390.
Occupational nurse positions were found to be the fourth most searched position, with a 60 percent increase, followed by business specialist – this saw a 49 percent increase in searches.
The median salary for a vocational nurse is $46,050, and for a business operations specialist, positions typically start at $67,782.
The sixth and seventh worldwide were digital marketing professional and data analyst.
The eighth most in-demand job on the list is Site Reliability Engineer, who uses automation tools to monitor and observe the reliability of software in the production environment.
And this occupation starts at about $146,783 for salary.
Information security analyst, a salary of $106,064 per year, and cloud architect who manages cloud computing, ranks ninth and tenth on the list.
Teacher positions are the most in-demand jobs for Americans

The report also focuses on the most in-demand jobs in the US, with the position of a teacher ranked first.
“The country is currently facing a high demand for teachers as many leave the profession due to low wages and stressful working conditions,” says Lensa.
The job for a flood risk engineer saw a 167 percent increase, which the company attributes to increased government infrastructure spending to boost job openings.
In both the global and US report, the customer service representative was ranked third at a time when AI is poised to take over this task.
“Demand for customer-facing features is increasing as many companies move away from product innovation and focus on customer satisfaction to grow their business in the face of a volatile global economy,” says Lensa.
OpenAI’s ChatGPT launched after the report’s data was collected, suggesting that by 2023, people may stop searching for customer service representatives as a job title.
The company and researchers at the University of Pennsylvania published a study in March warning that AI systems will affect 80 percent of US jobs, with personal financial advisors and brokers, insurers and data processors topping the list.
The team found that about 15 percent of all employee tasks could be completed significantly faster by AI and with the same level of quality.
Most exposure falls on white jobs, such as mathematicians, accountants, and writers, and occupations that earn at least $80,000 a year.
The study analyzed 1,016 occupations and their 19,265 jobs and obtained employment and wage data from the 2020 and 2021 Occupational Employment Series provided by the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
The team then analyzed the data with AI capabilities to see which positions could run more smoothly if done by the technology.
The overall findings show that “at least 10 percent of their job duties are impacted by the introduction of LLMs, while approximately 19 percent of employees may see at least 50 percent of their job duties impacted,” reads the study published in arXiv.
The team looked at exposure when compiling the list of high-risk jobs, which included basic skills of occupations such as active listening, speaking and critical thinking for which Ai was designed.
The study found that 86 occupations were “fully exposed” to AI, and several received a score of 100 percent.
Think of legal secretaries, clinical data managers, web designers and journalists.
