Halloween is almost here, and that means it’s almost time for trick-or-treating and candy all over the country.
Kids prepare their costumes and pumpkin buckets for trick-or-treating, hoping for candy or other goodies from different households, but are they actually impressed with the quality of the candy they receive?
Recent studies have shown that children in certain states prefer certain sweets over others, and the results are very unexpected.

The favorite New York candy of 2023 is Sour Patch Kids – with Hot Tamales and candy corn in second and third place.
New Jersey has a different taste than New York – their top three favorites this year are Tootsie Pops, then M&M’s and Skittles.
Since Hershey Park is a popular attraction in Pennsylvania, it’s no surprise that the state’s favorite Halloween candy is Hershey’s minibars, followed by M&Ms and Skittles.
Connecticut’s top three candies are the classic Almond Joy, Milky Way and M&M’s.
Massachusetts prefers Butterfingers, Sour Patch Kids and Double Bubble.
Florida, also known as the Sunshine State, favors Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Skittles and Hot Tamales.
Texas is loving Sour Patch Kids, Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Starbursts this year.
California’s preference for 2023 is M&M’s, while their second and third favorites are Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups and Skittles.

Adults will spend at least $3.6 billion on candy this year – more than the 2022 average of $3.1 billion
Shockingly, Kit-Kat Bars only appear on a top three list in Illinois — a state where Sour Patch Kids are the most popular candy of 2023.
Like California, Washington DC’s favorite candy in 2023 are M&Ms, with Tootsie Pops and Blow Pops coming in second and third.
Regardless of the results, adults will spend at least $3.6 billion on candy this year – more than the average of $3.1 billion in 2022, according to the New York Post.
