From Britain’s Got Talent to Strictly Come Dancing to Eurovision? There’s a good chance for Molly Rainford… 10 years after she turned down a record deal with Simon Cowell

Strict star Molly Rainford is lining up to represent the UK in next year’s Eurovision song contest.

The Mail on Sunday can reveal that talks are underway for her to be selected for the event in Liverpool next May, ten years after she turned down a record deal with Simon Cowell.

Set to perform in the Strictly semi-finals tonight, Ms Rainford is eager to launch herself as a pop star after playing a singer on CBBC’s popular comedy-adventure series Nova Jones.

A source close to the Eurovision team involved in the selection of the British candidate said: “Molly has all the attributes to be a great act for the UK.” She has a fantastic voice and has a huge fan base.

Rainford, who will be competing for a place in this year’s Strictly final tonight, is being considered to represent the UK at Eurovision in 2023.

The singer, who performed on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 when she sang Ave Maria, has been a regular on the CBBC series Nova Jones.

“She is a true performer and has worked her way up in the show business through strong grafting. She is the epitome of what the UK candidate should be. She is very exciting.

“She’s gained massive new support by participating in Strictly, so I hope the nation gets behind her.”

Ms Rainford, 22, was saved by the judges last Sunday after finding herself in the bottom two with actress Kym Marsh.

Tonight he will dance twice with his professional partner Carlos Gu as he battles for a place in the final against Hamza Yassin, Helen Skelton, Fleur East and Will Mellor.

It will be the second time that he is in a semifinal of a television reality.

In 2012 she appeared on ITV’s Britain’s Got Talent where she sang Ave Maria, which sparked much interest from Cowell who wanted to sign her to his label.

Mama Sarah added: “She always sang and danced since she was a little girl, we are so proud of her.”

The CBBC star appeared on Britain’s Got Talent in 2012 but turned down a record deal from Simon Cowell because her mother didn’t want her to be a “one-hit wonder”.

Eurovision will take place in Liverpool after Sam Ryder placed second in the 2022 competition. Ukraine, the winning nation, was unable to host due to the ongoing conflict with Russia.

However, his mother, Sarah, turned down the offer as she did not want him to become a “one-hit wonder”.

“We wanted Molly to have some longevity in her career,” he told The Mail on Sunday.

“We thought he wouldn’t last long, so we wanted him to wait and learn the business first.”

Ms. Rainford then joined the Sylvia Young Theater School after Cowell and her manager Jonathan Shalit agreed to finance a place there so she could learn her trade.
