Bukayo Saka scored the winner against Bodo/Glimt on Thursday night, but manager Mikel Arteta says there were elements in the winger’s play that he can improve on.

The Gunners ended the Norwegian side’s string of 14 consecutive European home wins, leaving the Arctic Circle with a hard-fought 1-0 win after Saka scored the only goal of the evening in fortuitous circumstances.

The goal was all the Englishman’s own work as he played a one-two to find out before seeing his first shot blocked in his path and into the goal.

Manager Mikel Arteta says there are still areas where the England winger can improve

Arsenal had to work hard to protect their advantage and Arteta thinks Saka could have offered more on the other side of the pitch.

After the game, the manager said: “He had moments in the game where he was really good and then moments where he can improve and demand more of himself, especially defensively.

“There were times when we allowed their left-back to progress and break our press too easily. There are many things to improve.

“I am very happy to win against a team that has won the last 14 games here at home. It’s no coincidence.’

The win, Arsenal’s 11th in 12 games in all competitions this season, puts them on the brink of qualifying for the knockout stage.
