The YouTube Music 2024 Recap launched ahead of Spotify Wrapped 2024 – here’s how to find it
- The YouTube Music 2024 Recap is now rolling out
- It shows you your top artists, songs, albums and more
- You also get a playlist of 100 songs of the year
It’s that time of year again: the time when all our music streaming apps remind us of our listening habits from the past twelve months. We’re still waiting for Spotify Wrapped 2024, but the YouTube Music 2024 Recap is now available to everyone (after being released earlier this week).
As always with YouTube Music summaries, keep in mind that the music and podcasts you’ve played through YouTube will also count towards your stats. If you find some parts of your summary a little baffling, that may be why.
The summary isn’t much different from the format YouTube Music used last year: you’re told how many listens you’ve done in total, and the app presents you with the songs, albums, and artists you’ve listened to. most during the year.
You can also compare your music reputation with that of other YouTube Music users: for one of your most listened to artists, you’ll be told how much of a superfan you are compared to the average listener on the platform.
How to find your summary
The summary should appear the next time you open the YouTube Music app: just tap Let’s do this to see it. If you ignore the notification, you can find the summary again by going to the At home tab and scroll past your personal mixes.
Then work through your summary as a story on Snapchat or Instagram: tap to continue, or press and hold to pause. You will be told what the vibes of your year are, how many different songs you listened to and what your top five songs were.
Along the way, you’ll be invited to save a 2024 Recap playlist to your library: it’ll contain the top 100 songs you’ve listened to all year (remember, YouTube is included and you might see some videos in the playlist too ).
The summary gives you a brief timeline history of your listening habits and identifies your ‘music character’ – how adventurous (or otherwise) your music tastes have been over the past twelve months. Over to you, Spotify.
