- Sky Sports has offered to share its live coverage of the T20 World Cup final
- If England beat South Africa, the T20 final will also be broadcast on Channel 4
- Heather Knight’s team could face Australia or India in their last match
The T20 World Cup final will be broadcast live on Channel 4 if England beat South Africa in tomorrow’s semi-final, in what would be a huge boost for women’s football in this country.
Sky Sports has offered to share its live coverage with the terrestrial channel if Heather Knight’s team manages to face Australia or India, with Channel 4 making a final decision after the semi-finals.
Sky have developed a policy of making events they deem to be of national importance available free of charge in recent years, with Channel 4 becoming regular partners.
England’s Men’s 50s and T20 World Cup victories in 2019 and 2022 respectively were shown live on Sky and Channel 4, but the Women’s World Cup final defeat to Australia in Christchurch last year was not down to the unfavorable time difference.
Sky made the 50 over final available for free by showing it on its Freeview Sky Pick channel and streaming it on YouTube, but sharing coverage of Sunday’s final with Channel 4 would ensure a much larger audience and could attract record viewing numbers for a women’s game

If Channel 4 rejects Sky’s offer, the game will still be available for free via Sky Pick.
England’s 2017 World Cup final victory over India at Lord’s drew a peak audience of over 1 million, while the 2021 release of The Hundred garnered over 2 million viewers when Sky and BBC broadcast the women’s match between Oval Invincibles and Welsh Fire.
