The 54-year-old has reportedly struck up a close friendship with fellow Australian actress Betty Coe, 31, thanks to their shared interest in theatre.
The pair caught up last week when Hugh visited Broadway to watch Betty perform in the musical Hadestown and even posed hand-in-hand with the singer backstage.
Betty, who is married to photographer Zac Kasar, captioned the photo of the couple beaming together: ‘MY COUNTRY!!!! (Australian flag emoji).’ Thank you for coming to see us in Hadestown and being so kind!!!!!’

Speaking with Women’s Day magazine on Monday, an insider noted that Betty and Hugh had ‘fun chemistry’ and were ‘really good friends who hope to work together in a play or musical one day.’
