Fans of Netflix’s The Witcher were shocked when the streaming service announced the show’s renewal for season four, but with one monumental change.

It was revealed on Saturday that the series’ titular protagonist, Henry Cavill, will be replaced by Liam Hemsworth for the upcoming episodes.

And on Twitter, viewers certainly had a lot to say about the decision, even threatening to boycott the new season because they said it “just had to be cancelled.”

Henry retires after three years of playing the monster-hunting character Geralt of Rivia, and Liam replaces him.

The announcement comes before the third season has even aired, which will see Henry’s final scenes before handing over to Liam for the next season.

But fans had a lot to say about the switch, with one even suggesting, “They should just cancel the entire show.”

And it seems the two actors are also watching out for each other, as Henry shared a congratulatory message to Liam via Instagram as he announced his own departure.

“In my place, the wonderful Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time I’ve spent embodying Geralt and the enthusiasm for seeing Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced man.

“Liam, good lord, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, love to dive in and see what you can find.”

“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher,” he finished.
