Witcher fans have launched a petition demanding that Henry Cavill return to the series after being replaced by Liam Hemsworth in the role.
In a new Instagram post, the Australian heartthrob, 32, revealed that he was “over the moon at the opportunity to” play the lead character of the TV show’s monster hunter.
But some viewers of the show aren’t happy with the new pick, and a Change.org petition has since been launched, which has already garnered more than 12,000 signatures.

The open letter calls for Henry to return to series and the signatories also want the writers replaced.
It claimed: ‘Henry is not leaving The Witcher because of Superman, Netflix executives have made another serious decision not to deliver for their fans.
“The reason The Witcher is such a popular show is the fans’ love for the source material of books and games, which are hated and actively mocked by the writers and showrunner.

“Henry Cavill is one of those big fans, he knows it all through and he wanted to stay true to the world of Sapkowski, so Netflix wants to replace him.”
The petition also asked fans to boycott the upcoming season.
The petition concluded: “We had already suffered the disaster that marked the end of Game of Thrones – NETFLIX is not repeating the exact same mistake by holding onto writers and showrunners who think they are superior to the actual creator of the stories that made them.” them successful.’

And it seems the two actors are also watching out for each other, as Henry shared a congratulatory message to Liam via Instagram as he announced his own departure.
He wrote: ‘My journey as Geralt of Rivia is filled with monsters as well as adventures, and alas, I’ll be laying down my locket and my swords for Season 4.
“In my place, the wonderful Mr. Liam Hemsworth will take on the mantle of the White Wolf. As with the greatest literary characters, I pass the torch with reverence for the time I’ve spent embodying Geralt and the enthusiasm for seeing Liam’s take on this most fascinating and nuanced man.
“Liam, good lord, this character has such a wonderful depth to him, love to dive in and see what you can find.”

“Henry, I’ve been a fan of yours for years and was inspired by what you brought to this beloved character. I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m really excited to step into the world of The Witcher,” he finished.
