The Wimbledon wedding dress! Tennis star wears £235 replica of her bridal gown on court at SW19 – after posing topless on the eve of the tournament
- The world number 19 will face Australian Daria Saville in the second round on Thursday
- Kostyuk married her husband George Kyzymenko in November last year
- The player designed the dress with Wilson’s head designer Joelle Michaeloff
Ukrainian tennis player Marta Kostyuk is preparing for her second-round match at Wimbledon in an unorthodox way on Thursday: she is putting on her wedding dress.
The world number 19 convincingly defeated her first-round opponent Rebecca Sramakova, beating the Slovakian in three sets. But even more striking was her Wilson tennis dress, a simple white dress with a plunging neckline, a flared skirt and a cutout in the back.
But Kostyuk already wore a similar dress on her wedding day, when she asked the tennis label to design her bridal gown after signing with them in January 2023.
Kostyuk became Wilson’s first head-to-toe brand ambassador, working with the brand to design the outfit for her special day, adding an embroidered sheer overlay to what is now her go-to Wimbledon outfit.
The 22-year-old said her idea for the design came from her desire to feel comfortable and fluid on her wedding day, and she went into the process without any idea of what dress she wanted to wear.

“I think a lot of girls know exactly what they want their wedding dress to look like, but I had no idea what I wanted or what I liked,” Kostyuk said Fashion.
“I wanted something very simple, but at the same time something that you will remember. I just knew that I didn’t want a wedding dress that weighs 200 kilos, or something so complicated or fragile that you can’t move and enjoy the company of people.
“The idea and the story behind this dress is, I think, by far one of the best in tennis. I don’t know if it ever was, but I know it is, right now.”
Kostyuk married her current husband George Kyzymenko in Cyprus in November last year, after they had been friends since childhood.
But now the player can see dozens of fans and amateurs wearing the dress she wore on her special day.
Wilson has released the dress under the name ‘Marta’, which retails for £155, or £235 if you buy it with an additional sheer overlay, with covered buttons at the waist.
“The set is the same as the wedding dress,” Kostyuk said via Wilson, “it’s about it being light, comfortable, feminine and beautiful.”

Kostyuk will face Daria Saville on court 14 in her second round on Thursday afternoon.
‘Everything I wore in my wedding dress is still the same in my tennis dress, because it’s the way I live my life on and off the tennis court.’
Kostyuk had already caused a stir before the tournament started after he featured in Vogue Ukraine’s showcase of Ukrainian athletes competing in this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris.
Kostyuk will play in the women’s singles with her compatriots Elina Svitolina, Anhelina Kalinina and Dayana Yamstremska and in the doubles with Yamstremska in the French capital.
