The world of show business has been rocked by the death of legendary talk show host Jerry Springer at the age of 79.
He became America’s guilty pleasure after hosting the smash hit The Jerry Springer Show for 27 years.
Throughout its time on screen, it featured a slew of wild and raucous TV moments – from a dude who had his legs chopped off with a saw to a woman who broke the “sex record.”

‘I’m Glad I Cut My Legs’ (2006)
In 2007, fans of The Jerry Springer Show were stunned by a dude who chopped off both legs with a power saw.
Opening the episode, Jerry said, “This might be the most bizarre story we’ve done in our 15-year history.”
He then brought out Sandra, then 48, who “decided at age 14 that she didn’t want her legs.”
The guest then came onstage in a wheelchair before explaining, “I didn’t want them. My brain kept saying: get rid of it.’
Sandra had already tried several times to have her leg infected – including injecting her kneecap with feces – in the hopes that the doctors would amputate.
But when medical professionals declined, she took matters into her own hands.

‘I broke the sex world record’ (1997)
Adult film actress Jasmin St. Claire appeared on the show in 1997 to share her bizarre life purpose.
She said, “I thought the most outrageous thing I could do in this life was have sex with 300 men — so I did.
“It made me America’s most famous porn star.”
When asked by Jerry what the upside was, Jasmin said she was “making a lot of money right now” and that she was “super famous.”
Jasmin appeared in more than 70 adult films during her career.
But she also found other passions – after an eight-year professional wrestling career.

‘I Married a Horse’ (1998)
In 1998, fans of The Jerry Springer Show were stunned by one man’s interspecies relationship in one of its most controversial episodes.
Mark seemed like a relatively normal dude when he first took the stage claiming he had problems with neighbors not getting along with his wife.
But when his wife Pixel was brought onstage, it was revealed that Mark had married a horse – despite previously being married to a woman and having two children.
During the episode, Mark kissed the horse several times, prompting Jerry to say, “Shut up, I’m about to throw up.”
The host also announced that Mark and Pixel had been together for 10 years and married for five years before giving the public an insight into their private life together.
He said he had intercourse with the mare after a bad prom date, saying it was “so good I almost passed out.”

The guest, Earl Zea, appeared to be discussing his decision to “cut off his own male organ” with garden shears.
The then 34-year-old candidly revealed that he wished “it never happened” but said he did so to prevent “stalker” Ronnie from touching it.
He explained that he froze his genitals to make the process easier before flushing it down the toilet.
But in a twist to the story, Jerry then brought Ronnie onto the stage.
And he claimed the pair had been in a five-year relationship.

‘Clam Frontation’ (1997)
One of the biggest clashes on the Jerry Springer stage was between members of the Jewish Defense League and the Ku Klux Klan.
The KKK had appeared in 1997 to discuss race and religion with the JDL, with Jerry acting as moderator.
But unsurprisingly, things soon took a turn for the worse.
It came about after one of the KKK members mocked JDL chairman Irv Rubin by revealing a yarmulke under his hood.
And it caused an all-out melee that boiled over to include Jerry’s security and even members of the public.

And despite attempts to apologize, distraught sister Christina was having none of it.
The public was soon on Christina’s side when she revealed that the stripper was in shape – she had previously slept with two of her boyfriends before this incident.
The duo got into a vicious fistfight and the audience stuttered as tufts of hair extensions were pulled out and scornful insults were exchanged.
When Christina’s friend came out to apologise, claiming it was just a ‘mistake’, he was also badly beaten.

Another now infamous altercation involved a sex worker who seemed quite pleased with herself for providing services to another woman’s husband.
In the 2010 episode, the pair got into a physical fight before taking a bizarre turn.
The sex worker was left humiliated when her dentures flew straight out of her mouth in the middle of a sentence.
The mouthpiece landed on stage, but the woman seemed unfazed and continued the confrontation.
Once the action calmed down, one of the show’s security guards pulled out a glass of water for her to sink her teeth into.
As he turned to leave, he raised the cup to the audience as they burst into rapturous applause.
