The Weeknd and his girlfriend Simi Khadra share snaps in France ahead of The Idol premiere at Cannes
The Weeknd – who now officially goes by his birth name Abel Tesfaye – shared a few snaps of himself snuggled up in his lavish rooms in the South of France as he prepares to attend the premiere of The Idol at the 76th annual Cannes Film Festival this Monday.
The 33-year-old Canadian son of Ethiopian immigrants – with 136.8 million social media followers – tweeted a French flag emoji on Thursday with the caption, “I missed you.”
And Abel isn’t alone either, as he snapped a photo of a long-haired woman descending the concrete steps of what appeared to be his rental home.
The lady in the backless green dress was Tesfaye’s girlfriend Simi Khadra, whom he was first photographed on February 2, 2022 at West Hollywood hotspot Sunset Tower Hotel.
On Wednesday, Palestinian 30-year-old Instasto took a bite of her buttery croissant and two drinks while sitting in a local café.

Simi (née Sama) rarely shares snaps of the four-time Grammy winner, but on May 7, she posted a March 31 photo of his beloved Doberman Pinscher Caesar in what appeared to be his $70 million Bel-Air mansion.
Before Khadra, Abel enjoyed high-profile romances with her former girlfriend – IMG model Bella Hadid – from 2015-2019, as well as two-time Grammy nominee Selena Gomez in 2017.
And the Saudi-born socialite previously dated adult actor Luka Sabbat in 2021.
Knowing how private Tesfaye is, it’s doubtful he’ll officially hit the red carpet with Simi at Monday’s premiere of the first episode of his debauched six-episode drama, which begins streaming on HBO on June 4.
The Double Fantasy hitmaker co-created and co-wrote The Idol with Sam Levinson and Reza Fahim and also took on his biggest acting role to date as nightclub impresario/self-help guru/cult leader Tedros opposite Lily-Rose Depp as pop star Jocelyn.
The high-stakes series will technically premiere out of competition, but an independently sponsored jury led by Tony winner John Cameron Mitchell is considering it for The Queer Palm, an award for selected LGBTQAI+ relevant films submitted at Cannes.
The Hollywood show also stars Troye Sivan, Rachel Sennott, Ramsey, Suzanna Son, Hank Azaria, Dan Levy, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, Eli Roth, Hari Nef, Jane Adams, Jennie Ruby Jane, Mike Dean and Moses Sumney.
Abel will then kick off the European leg of his 64-day After Hours til Dawn Tour on June 6 at Portugal’s Passeio Maritimo de Algés in Lisbon.

“I’m going through a cathartic path right now,” the Oscar-nominated songwriter explained to W Magazine on May 8.
“It comes at a place and a time where I’m getting ready to close The Weeknd’s chapter. I will still make music, maybe as Abel, maybe as The Weeknd. But I still want to kill The Weeknd. And I will. Possibly. I’m definitely trying to shed that skin and be reborn.”
Abel said his sixth studio album is “probably my last hurray as The Weeknd.” This is something I have to do. As The Weeknd, I’ve said all I can say.’
As for Khadra, she continues to run cosmetics company SimiHaze Beauty with her identical twin sister Haya aka Haze.
