The Walking Dead: Dead City trailer: Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan portray former adversaries

The official trailer for the upcoming horror drama series The Walking Dead: Dead City was released on The Walking Dead’s official YouTube channel on Thursday.

The clip followed Maggie Greene and Negan, played by Lauren Cohan and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, as they head to Manhattan to rescue the former’s kidnapped son, Hershel.

The series, whose premiere date was revealed to the public last March, will serve as one of the successors to The Walking Dead.

The trailer started with Maggie and Negan boarding a boat, and when the latter asks her “where the hell are we going,” she simply replies, “Manhattan.”

After several shots of the devastated metropolis are shown, Greene tells her former adversary that “we were raided a few weeks ago,” and sees that “they took your kid.”

Perlie Armstrong, played by Gaius Charles, then enters a bar with a wanted poster featuring Negan’s face before the main characters of the show come across Madison Square Garden surrounded by zombies.

After the man who killed Greene’s husband asks her why she wants his help, she replies that he knows the man who kidnapped Hershel, better known as The Croat, played by Zeljko Ivanek.

The Croat later learns that his former adversary has come to Manhattan, after which Maggie and Negan encounter a group of survivors with whom they later dine.

It is then revealed that Ivanek’s character is performing biological experiments on zombies, and the survivors agree to help the former adversaries find the criminal.

After The Croat intimidates Hershel, played by Logan Kim, by tying him to a chair and brandishing an axe, Maggie says her plan is to “get him to tell me where my son is, then kill we him’.

Greene and Negan then enter a former sports arena and take out numerous zombies before Armstrong tells her, “I don’t know why you’re with that man I’m looking for, but I’ll come to you.”

A rapid-fire montage then follows, in which Maggie erratically drives an ambulance before passing out after crawling through a tunnel.

The trailer ends after The Croat ominously tells an unseen inmate that they’ll “like it” here before Greene is confronted by a grotesquely mutated multi-limbed zombie.

Development on The Walking Dead: Dead City was first revealed to the public in March last year.

At the time, the program was called Isle Of The Dead, although it was later renamed.

It was also announced that Cohen and Morgan have signed on to reprise their long-standing roles as Maggie and Negan on the program, in which they both act as executive producers.

Scott M. Gimple, who previously served as one of The Walking Dead’s showrunners, will also executive produce the program.

In addition to the stars of the program, the show’s cast is complemented by artists such as Jonathan Higginbotham, Michael Anthony and Mahina Napoleon.

Physical production on the program began last July in New Jersey and ended in October.

Cohan previously spoke about the program during an interview with Weekly entertainmentstating that Greene, who previously fought her way through the American South, would face unfamiliar territory.

“She has to go through this new terrain of New York City. That’s going to be very difficult and physically challenging,” she said.

The actress went on to tell the media that “when we get to the new show, Maggie’s biggest weakness will definitely be exploited.”

Greene also discussed the implications of working with the man who killed her husband.

“It’s going to be very, very hard for her to continue even with the best of intentions she had to give Negan his territory and get on with her life and find hope and try to build this future,” she said.

The six-episode first season of The Walking Dead: Dead City will premiere on June 18.
