The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon – The Book of Carol is renewed for season three… as highly anticipated trailer for season two debuts at Comic-Con

A month before the premiere of the second season of The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon, dubbed The Book Of Carol, AMC executives have already given the green light for a third season.

And while Daryl, Carol and company fight to survive the zombie apocalypse in France in the upcoming new season, the next round of adventures comes with a location change to Spain, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The announcement was made as the stars — Norman Reedus, 55, and Melissa McBride, 59 — joined several other actors and crew members at San Diego Comic-Con 2024 at the Hilton Bayfront on Friday in San Diego, California.

In another big reveal, the trailer for the second season, which will again consist of six episodes, was unveiled during the panel portion of the event, which also included co-star Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, writer and showrunner David Zabel, and director Gregory Nicotero.

“I don’t know if this is where I’m supposed to be,” Daryl Dixon says in the teaser, as Carol Peletier searches for her long-lost friend and prepares to travel to the sea to find him.

The third season will be set in Madrid, Spain, and filming is expected to begin in August. Additional filming is planned in the regions of Galicia, Aragon, Catalonia and Valencia.

“Season three follows Carol Peletier (McBride) and Daryl Dixon (Reedus) as they continue their journey home to their loved ones,” the official description for the third season begins.

‘As they attempt to find their way back, the path becomes increasingly divergent, leading them through distant lands with ever-changing and unfamiliar circumstances as they witness the varying effects of the Walker apocalypse.’

Scott M. Gimple, Chief Content Officer for The Walking Dead Universe, has high expectations for the adventures in season three.

“France has made an epic poem out of the story of Daryl and Carol with what we found there,” he said in a statement.

“What happens in Spain may well top it all. We’re thrilled to be able to show audiences more of the Fantastic Two, along with new, compelling characters, in a previously unseen, beautiful and horrifying corner of their broken world.”

“I am thrilled to announce a third season and to be working with the brilliant Melissa McBride,” Reedus said, before sharing a little more about his longtime buddy.

“Season two is one of my favorite stories on this show. Watching Melissa shine alongside our brilliant cast and crew is one of my fondest memories of playing this character,” the Hollywood, Florida native revealed.

“I hope you enjoy it as much as we enjoyed creating it, and we can’t wait to continue telling the story.”

Reedus’ debut on The Walking Dead came in episode three of season one. Since then, Daryl, played by Reedus, has remained a fixture, thanks in part to the character’s popularity with loyal fans.

McBride was originally intended to star alongside Reedus in the spin-off series.

But she had to leave the show for personal reasons after the finale of the flagship series The Walking Dead after 11 seasons, it was reported Variety.

Ultimately, The Walking Dead: Daryl Dixon will make its six-episode series premiere in September 2023 on AMC.

In addition to Reedus, the cast also includes Louis Puech Scigliuzzi, Clémence Poésy, Laïka Blanc-Francard, Anne Charrier, Romain Levi and Adam Nagaitis. Recurring roles include François Delaive, Eriq Ebouaney, Tristan Zanchi and Lukerya Ilyashenko.
