Australian singer Emma Pask has opened up about the tragic accident that left her husband Rodrigo Ocana paralyzed.
Rodrigo spent almost eight months in hospital and was left paralyzed from the waist down after a horrific motorcycle accident in December 2023.
He has undergone extensive treatment for injuries including a broken back, eight broken ribs, a shattered shoulder blade, a broken arm and a broken jaw and sternum.
A year after the accident, Emma revealed that 2025 is looking a lot brighter for her and Rodrigo as she gave an update on his health.
Emma, who sang famously Nicole Kidman And Keith UrbanDuring the 2006 wedding, Rodrigo said that Rodrigo is now home and out of the hospital, as she praised him for his resilience.
“We have grown so much together over the last 12 months,” Emma told the BBC Daily Telegraph.

“I’ve definitely really seen a deeper depth in my husband, knowing that he can go through such a horrific accident like he went through and that he can get through it with such determination is incredible.
“My admiration for him grows hour by hour, day by day,” she added.
Emma, who has documented her husband’s recovery on social media, also took to Instagram on Saturday to pay tribute to everyone who has supported Rodrigo.
“To help us get through this past year, we’re going back to the beginning,” she said.
“A young woman and her boyfriend, who were the first to arrive at the scene of Rod’s accident. They stayed with him and comforted him as much as they could while they waited for the ambulance.
“Our dear friends and family all rallied around us and provided, and continue to provide, so much care and support,” she added.
The singer, who rose to fame on The Voice in 2013, was also full of praise for the staff at both the Royal North Shore Hospital and the Prince of Wales Hospital.
Emma also thanked Spinal Cord Injury Australia for providing ‘support and loads of information to help us navigate all that comes after experiencing and spinal cord injury’.

Emma also recently celebrated her wedding anniversary with Rodrigo and shared a sweet message for him on social media just before Christmas.
“The accident changed everything, but it also brought out a strength in you that I am in awe of every day,” she wrote.
‘To my wonderful husband, Rod: This anniversary is not just about marking the passage of time, but about celebrating the remarkable progress you have made in your recovery and the unwavering determination you have shown in the face of every challenge that you have experienced.’
Emma added that Rodrigo has been a constant inspiration in his approach to recovery.
“The road has been difficult, full of obstacles both physical and emotional, but you have faced each day with courage, a newfound patience and the kind of grace that inspires not only me, but everyone around you,” she continued.
‘This year I have witnessed the power of love, hope and relentless spirit. It reminds us that no matter how difficult life is, there is always room for healing, growth and a better future.
“I love you endlessly, and I’m so proud of how far you’ve come.
“Today I celebrate not only the milestone, but the journey itself and the courage to face each day.”

In addition to her role on The Voice, Emma has built a career as one of Australia’s most loved jazz singers.
She is perhaps best known for her collaborations with James Morrison and for singing the bridal waltz at Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s wedding in 2006.
She has also been nominated twice for Best Jazz Album (ARIA) and won a MO Award for Jazz Vocal Performer Of The Year in 2004.
Emma’s career has led to her releasing nine albums, from 1999’s Emma to her 2021 album, On the Sunny Side of the Street.
