The Voice star Wendy Moten reveals she’s still recovering… 10 months after on-stage fall

Wendy Moten is still recovering from the injuries she sustained moments after performing live on The Voice 10 months ago. 

The singer, 57, who was a member of Blake Shelton’s team for season 21, tripped over a floor monitor and fell down on both of her arms, breaking several bones in the process. 

In a new interview with People, Moten revealed she’s in a bit of a state of disbelief over the length of her recovery and rehabilitation, which includes still going to physical therapy three times a week.

The Memphis, Tennessee native, who’s now based in Nashville, suffered a broken right elbow, a fractured left wrist, and she broke a small piece of a bone in her left hand. 

Although in serious pain and without the use of her arms, Moten would go on and continue in the competition for three more weeks until the finale on December 16, where she ended up placing second.

The vocalist, who’s the daughter of a pastor who began singing in a church choir as a child, would return home to Tennessee and undergo surgery the very next day.

‘I’ve never been broken before,’ Moten admitted, adding, ‘And so, it’s a new experience, but I remind myself that there are people dealing with far more serious things. I’ll be OK. I’ll just keep working at it.’

She went to to reveal that doctors ended up putting a piece of titanium in her elbow to keep her arm together.

‘Right now, my elbow is still crooked, and my fingers are crooked, but with the occupational therapy and the physical therapy I’m currently undergoing, I’m hoping everything gets back to normal soon,’ Moten explained.

Despite her rehabilitation schedule and the pain an anguish she’s still suffering, Moten is currently on tour opening up for country music star Vince Gill. 

She has been sharing photos and videos on Instagram of her experience out on the road with Gill, who’s also a member of the legendary rock band the Eagles when he’s not recording or performing his solo music.

Moten says she first met Gill in 2016 and eventually became bandmates with him in the 10-piece Western swing band, The Time Jumpers.

She is currently working on a new project with producer extraordinaire Paul Worley, who’s best known for co-producing the self-titled debut album of Lady Antebellum with Victoria Shaw, and for discovery and co-producing the Dixie Chicks with Blake Chancey.
