The Voice: Niall Horan brings back tearful teenager Julia Roome with new Super Save option as Playoffs begin

Niall Horan used his Super Save to bring teen Julia Roome back to the competition during Tuesday’s premiere of the Playoffs episode of The Voice on NBC.

For the first time, each of the coaches had one Super Save that allowed them to bring back one participant. Niall decided to use his to retrieve 13-year-old Julia

“Julia, would you like to go back to eighth grade or would you like to come back to The Voice on Team Niall?” Niall, 30, said on the phone to Julia, who was in shock.

Julia from Warwick, New York, started crying.

“You’re so good,” Niall said. ‘You deserve it.’

For her performance, Julia took the stage in a green dress and sang Cyndi Lauper’s hit True Colors.

“I’m excited to see what’s going to happen with you because you’re amazing,” Gwen Stefani, 54, told her.

“The fact that you can do all that at the age of 13 is phenomenal,” says John Legend, 44.

“I’m so happy we had a super save,” Niall said. “There was no way we could allow you to leave this match. I’m just so proud of you. You are an incredible talent.’

Nini Iris, 27, from Brooklyn, New York City, was the first Team Niall contestant to perform during the Playoffs episode after he begged her to join his team during the Blind Auditions.

You have such an amazing stage presence and I just can’t believe you don’t have a whole album. If I had a label I would just take you away.”

“What you give us on stage goes way beyond a competition,” John said. ‘You’re already a star. This way you carry yourself with confidence, with that distinct voice and the performance is flawless every time. It goes beyond lives. You are among the Grammy-winning artists singing in our finale.”

“That’s an achievement,” Niall said.

“This trip has been the most incredible blessing ever,” Mara said. ‘She sees me on this big stage and only brings the good news. And that literally gives her strength.’

“Mara reminds me of Olivia Rodrigo,” Niall said.

“This was your best moment so far on this show, besides singing a duet with me at the beginning,” John told her when she finished her performance.

“It was an emotional rollercoaster of excitement watching you perform,” Reba said. “And your singing is so good.”

“If Alexa could give us that emotion on the night, she could possibly go through to the live shows,” Niall said to the camera.

“That was a great achievement,” Reba said.

“You radiate emotion and authenticity,” Niall said. “It was so good to see you among the big belts. And that is the biggest compliment I can give you, because you stand out. This girl is ridiculously talented, and the world will see it at some point.”
