The Voice Australia winner Tarryn Stokes reveals the surprising way she’s already spending her $100,000 prize money… after claiming she hasn’t heard from mentor Rita Ora for months
The Voice Australia winner Tarryn Stokes has revealed she is already spending her prize money from the show.
The 40-year-old, who took home $100,000 last month after being declared the winner in a viewer poll, said Yahoo Australia what she spent the money on.
“I bought Nike shoes, I bought some socks for my kids, and we’re going to buy a trampoline for the backyard,” the mother of two said.
She also said she was going on vacation and would use the windfall to pay her mortgage.
Stokes admitted she had been overwhelmed by public support since her win and was still in a pinch after beating all 47 other top performers to win the big prize.

“I can’t believe people like what I do,” she said.
Tarryn’s comments come after The Voice Australia winner exclusively told Ny Breaking Australia she hadn’t heard from her on-screen mentor Rita Ora in months.
Stokes, who was crowned winner of the reality show in October, claimed the pair exchanged several emails in June but claimed they have not been in touch since.
“Not much contact with Rita, but she gave me her email address, so we emailed back and forth,” she said.
However, it appears that this digital correspondence was short-lived, as Tarryn claims she has not heard from her since.
In a heart-warming gesture during the final, Ora Stokes donated a book about artists and the creative process, decorated with inspiring quotes and sayings.

“It was an inspiring book, really encouraging,” Stokes said.
“I felt really blessed that she gave me a gift, so that’s what I’m looking for.”
Despite the lack of contact with Ora, the singer remains optimistic.
“Not much (contact with Rita), but she gave me her email, so we emailed back and forth,” the mother of two, 40, explained
“Maybe I’ll email her again soon and see if she wants to say ‘hello,’” she said.
Ny Breaking Australia has contacted Ora management for comment.
This isn’t the first time the singer has been accused of cutting ties with past winners.
Last year, Lachie Gill admitted to having had similar experiences with the British hitmaker.

Speaking to The Herald Sun, Lachie said Rita ‘flew back to LA the day after the show ended’ and has been busy ever since.
“I’m going to be completely honest with you, I haven’t spoken to her since the show, which might be a bit sad for everyone, but I also completely understand that she’s a busy woman,” the footy player and music artist said.
‘She flew back to LA the day after the show ended and obviously there would be a lot to do.
‘I didn’t really bother contacting her as I know she would have quite a busy schedule.’
